London-based Croatian sculptor Deša Vlahutin is known for minimalist clarity and precision.
Her series “1x8” rigorously follows minimalist principles both formally and conceptually. Rooted in mathematical laws – primarily the Fibonacci sequence – and the rhythmic logic of music, the works turn numbers into form.
Using classical, refined materials stripped of any sign of the maker’s hand, Vlahutin highlights their pure presence and aesthetic weight. The work is built with exact geometry, balance, repetition and a cool, almost detached presentation.
