Materia Life Bar: An Oasis for Slowing Down in the Heart of the City
There are spaces that subtly invite us to pause, take a deep breath, and set aside a moment exclusively for ourselves. It is with this exact thought that Materia Life Bar was created, a modern concept blending functional beverages, thoughtful design, and a calming atmosphere. It represents a natural physical continuation of our wellbeing brand's story, turning an online philosophy of a balanced lifestyle into a tangible experience.
Authentic Japanese matcha has quickly become a favorite daily ritual for many lovers of this green powder. Alongside classic matcha, guests in the new space can explore other functional beverages. Blue matcha, derived from the delicate butterfly pea flower, and hojicha, an aromatic roasted green tea powder, hold a special place. Each of these drinks is carefully prepared in either a warm or refreshing iced variation. The menu will be regularly enriched with special editions, and the summer months will be marked by the Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte and Iced Mango Matcha Latte.
The space was designed as an intimate reflection of the vision of the founders, sisters Maja and Zrinka Blažević. In collaboration with Zagreb architect Iva Pauzar and her Studio PI, a contemporary concept tailored to the busy city rhythm was created. The interior does not communicate wellbeing through emphasized branding or signage, but rather through the atmosphere itself and the tactility of the materials. Shaped as a calm, neutral canvas, the space directs all attention to the only important moment, the ritual of beverage preparation.
By using natural stone, dark wood, and walls treated with a limewash technique, a deep sense of groundedness and presence is achieved. A large mirror symbolizes the element of water and subtly connects the observer with the preparation process, while a spherical lighting fixture provides the space with essential warmth. The concept is further enriched by an artistic intervention by Dijana Trohar. Her work, relying on natural textures that retain the trace of the human hand, brings a sense of organic nature within four walls.
The central part of the space is occupied by a monolithic stone, an impressive design element executed by the Split-based company Petro-Kamen. Their traditional artisanal processing gave the space a final layer of authenticity, while also symbolizing the unbreakable connection of the founders to their Dalmatian roots.
