Materia Book Club vol 6 - "Life in Five Senses: How Exploring the Senses Got Me Out of My Head and Into the World"
The wonderful energy and atmosphere at the sixth edition of the Materia Book Club warmed our hearts and souls and nicely prepared us for the two-month summer break. It was, as always – beautiful, raw, and inspiring. This time we talked about the book we previously read "Life in Five Senses: How Exploring the Senses Got Me Out of My Head and Into the World" published by Planetopija, by the well-known American author Gretchen Rubin, in which she reveals the unexpected pleasures offered by the five senses, such as the pleasure of seeing, the pleasure of listening, the seductiveness of smelling, the sweetness of tasting and the joy of touching. Offering deep insights and practical suggestions, the book invites us to use the power of our observation to live richer, more creative, compassionate, and happier lives. As well as - let's be aware of every moment.
A special feature of this gathering was a pop-up exhibition in collaboration with the Shpigl platform, by the Dubrovnik artist Desa Vlahutin, whose sculptures delighted us. Thanks to our dear partner Bio & Bio, whose delicious ecologically certified salty and sweet snacks from the oldest organic farm in Croatia, Zrno, made with the passion and skill of local employees, enriched this gathering. As well as the fine red wine Dingač. In order to further encourage the participants to use their senses, Bio & Bio gave everyone a wonderful goodie bag with different products at the end of the meeting.
