Affogato is an Italian dessert most often enjoyed during hot summer days. In the literal translation, 'affogato' means "drowned", and it usually consists of ice cream topped with hot espresso shot.

In this fun green matcha version, created by food blogger Jelena Markota @eardur, a scoop of vanilla ice cream is topped with Materia matcha. Super simple, tasty, healthy, and very refreshing. We recommend that you prepare slightly stronger matcha so that it does not lose its flavor and color when poured over the ice cream.

Ingredients for one person:

1g (half a teaspoon) Materia matcha powder

50 ml of water

Half a teaspoon of maple syrup

A scoop of vanilla ice cream

STEP 1

Heat the water to approximately 80 degrees. Using a matcha whisk, mix matcha powder well with water until the powder is completely melted and a nice foam forms on top.

STEP 2

Add maple syrup to the mixture, and pour over your favorite vanilla ice cream. And that's it, the perfect summer dessert is ready!
